Ocean Jasper: Dive into Summer

As we coast into summer, there’s a definite feeling of lightness and vibrancy in the air. Mercury is out of retrograde, the eclipses are past us, Venus is settled warmly in the sign of Cancer, and the Strawberry Moon (June’s full super moon, named for the how ripe strawberries are at this time of year) rises, bringing with it powerful energies of optimism, joy, love, pleasure, and luck. Since June has traditionally been a longtime popular month for marriages, an alternate name for the Strawberry Moon is the Honeymoon!

Ocean Jasper is metaphysically associated with promoting positivity and happiness, so it’s the perfect stone to work with right now (and its name even invokes summer energy). Fun fact about Ocean Jasper? It’s not really a Jasper, but a spherically -patterned Chalcedony, found only in northwestern Madagascar, in the Analalava district of the Sofia region of the province formerly known as Mahajanga.

The Ocean Jasper at Earth Odyssey comes directly from the owner of the mine, where the stone was mined from 1999-2015. It was named Ocean Jasper because it was first discovered on the shoreline of Marovato. It is especially unique in that it exists in a wide range of different colors including white, green, brown, black, blue, red, pink, orange, yellow and gray. Because of its spherical patterning, it is also sometimes called Orbicular Jasper. Being a member of the quartz family, specimens of Ocean Jasper often have cavities of sparkling Quartz druzy crystals.

In addition to lifting one's spirits, Ocean Jasper helps with emotional healing and moving forward in flow with new directions. It aids in balancing the solar plexus, heart, and throat chakras and allows one to recognize and appreciate the blessings that life has to offer.
