Mica for the Heart & Mind

Mica is a type of mineral family that originates its name as early as 1706 from the Latin micare- to flash or glisten; the original term used was “smicka.” Mica is a group of sheet silicates that can be parted into flexible or brittle sheets and has a hardness of 2-4 on the Moh’s scale. The mica family consists of Muscovite, Biotite, and Lepidolite and most of them help heal the heart or sharpen the mind.

Muscovite is the most common form of the mica group, often found as massive microcrystalline materials in flaky grains as a constituent of many rock types. Muscovite is known to help with inspiration and mental stimulation, problem solving, enhancing ESP, and stimulates the sixth and seventh chakras. Fuchsite is a type of Muscovite with the other chemical Chromium comprising the stone. So our best example in store of Muscovite is Fuchsite, which is pronounced “fook-site” after a German chemist, Johann Nepomuk von Fuchs. Corundum, Ruby, crystals are also found growing within Fuchsite, which is found in Brazil, Pakistan, India, and USA. Sometimes small platelets of Fuchsite or other green micas are suspended in quartz to produce the gem Aventurine. Another type of Fuchsite on the market is Verdite, an “impure” Fuchsite found in South Africa. Fuchsite brings the connection to the intelligence to the heart and intellect of the mind. Allows one to use the gifts of the mind, guided by the heart’s wisdom. Particularly good for healers. Ruby Fuchsite encourages self-esteem and aids in the healing of relationship issues. Inspires one to heal oneself.

Biotite are black or dark flakes that are found in different specimens of igneous and metamorphic rocks. Biotite had been known to trick inexperienced gold miners when they saw bronze colored flakes glimmering in their pan.

Lepidolite is a fairly rare lithium-bearing mineral that is often grown in association with other lithium-bearing minerals such as Spodumene and Tourmaline. Lepidolite has been found in Africa, Brazil, Greenland, and the USA. The main use of Lepidolite in history is its mining for its minor ore of lithium metal, more so in the early 1900s. Lithium has been used as a medicine to help treat mental disorders such as bipolar disorder, depression, and schizophrenia. Lepidolite helps release stress and worry. A stone of serenity and purification. Helps balance emotional extremes.
