Cavansite: A Rare Gem of Illumination

Cavansite is a rare silicate mineral with a hardness of 3-4 that was discovered in the 1960’s in Oregon, USA. Its color is a vibrant teal to ultramarine and it grows crystal layers that fan out as radiating rosettes. It occurs as a secondary mineral in basaltic and andesitic rocks and often occurs alongside Zeolites such as Stilbite and Apophylite.  The name cavansite comes from its chemical composition of (Ca-V-Si) calcium, vanadium, and silicate.  Its rich blue color comes from concentrations of vanadium.

Higher quality specimens in larger deposits were found in 1967 in Pune, Maharashtra, India and it has been mined in the Wagholi Quarry at this location since then for commercial sale.  The mine is now closed as deposits have been exhausted and the value of Cavansite has skyrocketed.  It is a prized possession amongst mineral collectors.

Cavansite helps develop one's inner psychic gifts, especially clairvoyance and clairaudience, as well as access to Akashic records, channeling, and ESP. It is praised for helping one heal from stress-induced illness and calm frayed nerves. It aids in communicating the truth in difficult situations without conveying blame or hurtful words to others. Cavansite is associated with the air element and with balancing the third eye and crown chakras.
