December 2011 Astrological Forecast

In December we have both the end of the calendar year and the Winter Solstice, which marks the start of winter and precedes the new growth of spring. These seasonal symbols continue the theme we’ve explored since March of this year: the tension between the new and the old, what might be and what is.

Astrologically, the holidays bring more opportunities to do the work we were assigned at the Spring Equinox: to re-vision who we are as individuals, as countries, and as global citizens and to take action to change the old structures, be they our own lives or our institutions.

We kick off the month with Uranus turning direct after being retrograde since August. When a planet is retrograde, we tend to feel its influence more internally. With the planet of radical change and freedom retrograde, the call to liberate ourselves has been growing beneath the surface, but external attempts at changing may have eluded us at times.

After Uranus turns direct on December 9th, breakthroughs become easier and may happen spontaneously, seemingly from nowhere. Whether you find this process exciting or disconcerting depends on how open you are to change. If you find the changes disruptive, ask yourself if an opportunity lies underneath the chaos.

Laura has been a customer for several years and I learned of her amazing work as both a Yoga instructor and Energy Healer when coincidentally she was chosen by a local Yoga studio to teach at a free community workshop that I had organized.

Laura has practiced yoga since 1996 and as her path has evolved she has blended other healing modalities into her practice desiring to help people live more full and free lives.

       UAC 2012 in New Orleans: The Astrologers Are Coming!

     There is an old adage that says knowledge is power. And the knowledge available at United Astrology Conference 2012 will be immeasurable. The United Astrology Conference is the largest gathering of astrologers in the world and in 2012, they are gathering in New Orleans at the Marriott Hotel from May 24 - May 29.

     UAC 2012 features over 160 stellar faculty members renowned for their contribution to the astrological field. With all of the lectures, pre- and post-conference workshops, and association-sponsored events, there are almost 300 different educational opportunities of which to take advantage. And with an anticipated 1,200 attendees from countries across the globe, the potential for learning that comes from sharing ideas will be outstanding.

     Besides the regular schedule of 15 topic-centered tracks, Saturday, May 26th, features a special beginner-level Sun-Sign Track. The Sun-Sign Track is a one-day-only, full-day program which allows astrological beginners to hear lectures from some of astrology's leading speakers on entry-level topics. The Sun-Sign Track has separate registration, for those who do not wish to attend the remainder of the conference. However, registration for the main conference (either the full conference, or at the daily rate) includes the Sun-sign Track in your registration. The Sun-Sign Track will run on Saturday, May 26th, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. and the cost is only $50.

      In addition to discussions about astrological tools and techniques, invariably at the center of many UAC2012 conversations will be how to translate and best deal with the shifts that are occurring globally as we have entered 2012. What may the foundation-shaking Uranus/Pluto square bring? How can we most constructively channel the highest chord of Neptune in Pisces? What of Regulus moving into Virgo, what may that portend for us collectively and individually? And how in these transformational times can astrology resume the centrally integral role that it has had at different times in our history?

      UAC will also feature an entire lecture track dedicated to insights into business and the economy,. And, no matter what your political affiliation, you’ll surely want to attend the Election 2012 Presidential Panel, scheduled for just before the closing ceremonies where the participants will predict who is going to win and why.
